 Subject:Preliminary Report

Amendments to the Zoning Code

City of Etobicoke

31 Goodmark Place

 File No. Z-2265 (Rexdale-Thistletown)

  Purpose:

 An application has been received from Sterling Recycling Limited to amend the Industrial Class 2 (I.C2) zoning to permit the existing plastic recycling plant to continue legally at 31 Goodmark Place.

 Recommendation:

 It is recommended that this report be received for information and processing of the application continue.

 Reason for application:

 Recycling is not permitted in the I.C2 zone.

Official Plan: Industrial

Zoning Code: Industrial, Class 2 (I.C2)

Gross Site Area: 0.93 ha (2.3 ac)

Gross Floor Area: 3110 m2 (33,473 sq. ft.)

 Issues:

 No city wide issues have been identified. Local issues include: compatibility with surrounding uses and safety.



Status and Recommended Process:

 The application is currently in circulation. A staff report on the application is expected to be available in July. The Public Meeting will be held by the Etobicoke Community Council and will be scheduled at the earliest possible date following receipt of the staff report.
