Council Reference/Background/History:
At the January 21, 1998 East York Community Council Meeting, Mr. John Carter, Chair of the East York LACAC, raised a number of issues concerning the administrative and budget relationship of his Committee with the City of Toronto. The Community Council requested staff to report on this matter to their February 18, 1998 meeting.
The following is a summary of Mr. Carter=s issues as recorded by staff:
Which department will LACAC report to in the new administration, how will their budget be approved and what staff resources will they be provided with?
It would be appropriate to schedule a meeting between volunteer committees and staff.
Who will be responsible for the Goulding Estate?
What will be the program and budget for the Don Valley Brick Works Project, and how will it be administered?
How will Todmorden Mills be administered?
Comments and/or Discussion and/or Justification:
The relationship of LACAC=s and other volunteer committees to the new administration has not yet been fully worked out. This will be the subject of further discussion and reports. In the meantime the previous relationships will continue to prevail until changes are made.
Conclusions:
These issues will be reported on in the future.
