July 6, 1998

  To:East York Community Council

 From:Novina Wong

City Clerk

Subject:Traffic Poll Results:Implementation of "Alternate Side Overnight Permit Parking on Airdrie Road between Heather Road and Bessborough Drive"

 Purpose:

To report the results of a traffic poll conducted on Airdrie Road between Heather Road and Bessborough Drive with respect to the implementation of alternate side overnight permit parking.

Funding Sources, Financial Implications and Impact Statement:

The proposed changes can be accommodated from within the existing Operating Budget.

 Recommendation:

That the report of the City Clerk be received for information.

 Council Reference/Background/History:

The East York Community Council at its meeting held on May 6, 1998, requested the City Clerk to poll the residents on Airdrie Road between Heather Road and Bessborough Drive with respect to the implementation of alternate side overnight permit parking.

 Comments and/or Discussion and/or Justification:

Erroneously, tenants residing in the apartment buildings located at 1325, 1335, 1345, and 1347 Bayview Avenue; 3 and 5 Airdrie Road; and 2 and 4 Sutherland Drive (Kelvingrove Apartments) were polled due to being captured within the flankage area on Airdrie Road. However, in accordance with our polling procedures, neither the owner or tenants should have been polled. Therefore, the results of the poll have been calculated based on the properties excluding the apartment buildings, however including the flankage properties of 67 and 73 Bessborough Drive and 8 Heather Road (which are located across from the block in question).

The results of the poll are as follows:

 Number of residents polled 19

Number of responses16

Spoiled0

 Number in favour7

Number opposed9

No opinion0

Comments returned with the poll have been provided to the Councillors representing East York, Ward One.

 Conclusions:

The East York Community Council be requested to consider the poll results in determination of the proposal to implement alternate side overnight permit parking on Airdrie Road between Heather Road and Bessborough Drive.
