Subject: Right-Turn prohibition: Altamont Road at the access to
AChelsea Gate@ (108 Finch Avenue West)
Purpose: Protection from traffic generated by the development known as
AChelsea Gate@ (108 Finch Avenue West) requires the prohibition of right-turns at the development=s access on Altamont Road.
Source of Funds:
As part of the Development and Site Plan Agreement, the cost for the implementation of the required signage is to be borne by the developer.
Recommendations:
That the necessary By-Law be enacted to prohibit outbound right-turns at the access driveway from the AChelsea Gate@ development to Altamont Road.
The necessary funds be acquired from the developer to cover the cost of the sign installation.
Background History:
Zoning Amendment application (UDOZ-90B026) was approved to permit the construction of a townhouse development which had access on Altamont Road. To prevent development generated traffic from infiltrating the local stable residential community to the north, a right-turn prohibition was recommended at the driveway on Altamont Road.
Conclusion:
As the development is constructed and now being occupied, it is appropriate that the right-turn prohibition be installed to prevent traffic infiltration from this development into the local residential community to the north of the site.
