It is recommended that:
Two members of Scarborough Community Council be appointed to the 1998 Scarborough Trillium Awards Committee.
Council Reference/Background/History:
The Scarborough Trillium Award Program was established in 1978 to recognize the efforts of Scarborough property owners who enhance their neighbourhoods and the City as a whole through the beauty of their front gardens. Residential as well as industrial, commercial and institutional properties may be nominated for an award. The program is jointly sponsored by the Agincourt Garden Club, the Scarborough Garden Horticultural Society and the City, through the Parks and Recreation Department.
In 1997, 250 gardens were nominated and more than 40 volunteer judges working in teams were involved in the judging. At the October awards evening, over 300 people attended as the owners of 35 properties were recognized.

It is a Good News Program. Promotion and education of the environment.
