Subject:Technical Amendments to Various Zoning By-laws
Various Wards
Purpose:
To authorize Notice of a Public Meeting to consider minor technical amendments to correct
errors in various Zoning By-laws
Recommendations:
That the Scarborough Community Council convene a Public Meeting to consider this
initiative at the December 1998 Community Council Meeting.
Background:
This report is part of the continuing work program to correct Zoning By-laws drafting
errors. The changes, or corrections, do not fall easily into one specific category. They range
from correcting typographical errors and mapping errors, to changes to better implement the
intent of some previous Council directions.
Comments:
Over the last number of years, the former City of Scarborough implemented some major
zoning initiatives, such as, the consolidation of the Employment Districts Zoning By-law,
new regulations for Non-Accessory Signs and zoning Unzoned Lands. These were very
large complicated initiatives. We have discovered some minor errors in the implementation
which should be corrected.
Staff are currently gathering all the possible changes. The list will be complete prior to
notice of the Public Meeting. The report that comes forward to the December Community
Council Meeting will contain a discussion of the changes proposed.
Conclusions:
That a public meeting should be scheduled to consider corrections to the zoning by-laws.
