Re: Noise Barriers on Romanway Crescent
Please find attached a copy of the letter I recently sent to
Ms. Maria Demarco, a constituent who has requested the
installation of Noise Barriers on her street.
The Transportation Department has provided a report on this
matter, which I provided to the constituent directly. However,
Ms. Demarco still wishes to pursue this issue and has asked to
make a deputation to the Committee on this matter.
Could you please facilitate this request and contact Ms.
Demarco when her request will be scheduled for consideration at
Committee. Thank you for your assistance.

Dear Ms. Demarco:
Thank you for calling my office with regard to your concern
with noise from Jane Street traffic in your neighbourhood.
I am enclosing a report from our Transportation Department in
this matter. As you will note, staff do not support the
installation of Noise barriers due to high cost and concerns of
local residents about the aesthetics and public security.
The option of having the property owners on Romanway Crescent
pay for the installation of a noise barrier does exist although
the costs may be significant. However, should you and your
neighbours wish to pursue this further, I would be prepared to
take this to the appropriate City committee on your behalf.
Please accept my apology for the length of time it has taken
to receive this report. The many changes due to the amalgamation
of the city have disrupted our normal process and lines of
communication. Should you wish to discuss this matter further,
please don't hesitate to contact me directly.
Yours sincerely,
Frances Nunziata
Councillor, York-Humber.
