Subject:Building Activity Report -- January to September 1998 (All Wards)
Purpose:
The purpose of this report is to provide information on building permit activity within the first
nine months of 1998
Funding Sources, Financial Implications and Impact Statement:
Due to steady growth and strong construction activity in the City, it is expected that our
year-end revenue targets will be exceeded.
Recommendations:
It is recommended that this report be received as information.
Comments and/or Discussion and/or Justification:
This report is intended to provide a composite overview of the building permit activity within
the first nine months of 1998. The following Table 1 gives highlights for this period. It is
worth noting that construction value of permits issued (exclusive of land costs) was up by
almost 50%. At the same time, there was a corresponding increase of 45.1% for the average
value of permits issued.
On pages three and four, the monthly statistics of permit applications received and issued as
well as type of permits issued are given. On pages five to nine, major project (over $1 million)
for which a permit application had been received, based on City wards are also listed.
