Traffic on Arlington Avenue South of Vaughan Road

(January 14, 1998) From Councillor Joe Mihevc, Ward 28, York - Eglinton

I have received a request from a business in the Vaughan Road and Arlington Avenue area to change the time of a traffic sign restriction. The constituent would like the >no right hand turn restrictions= removed from 4-6 p.m. on the sign located at Vaughan Road southbound onto Arlington Avenue southbound.

Since the sign was installed at this location, a number of stop signs were placed on Arlington Avenue southbound. It appears that the stop signs has reduced the number of cars that use Arlington Avenue as a thru-fare.

I would ask that York Community Council direct staff to conduct a traffic count on Arlington Avenue south of Vaughan Road for a one week period. Such a study would help determine traffic volumes and would contribute to a decision making process.
