3. LACK OF STREET LIGHTING ON SCARLETT ROAD AT EDINBOROUGH

COURT - TTC STOP NEXT TO LAMBTON GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB

From Councillor Bill Saundercook to Novina Wong, City Clerk

February 25, 1998

APlease find attached an estimate for street lighting improvement provided by the Toronto Hydro-Electric Commission, York Office. As this will be a budget item, can you forward the estimate to the next Community Council meeting in order to allow further consideration by the Works and Budget Committees.

Please consider the request for improved lighting at the TTC stop next to the Lambton Golf and Country Club, Scarlett Road at Edinborough Court. Although the minimal standards have been met, the area is an isolated one for workers at night and could use additional illumination.@

From the Consumer Service Manager, Toronto Hydro - York Office to Councillor Bill Saundercook

(January 27, 1998)

We investigated this location and advise that lighting levels satisfy standards for the class of roadway.

A possible improvement would be:

Estimated Incremental Annual

Cost Energy Cost

Install 1 - New 200 W High Pressure

Sodium luminaire including wiring $600.00 $80.00

(on existing pole just north of TTC Bus

Shelter - Lambton Golf Club side of

Jane Street)

If you would like to proceed with this installation, please have either Bill Dunford, Chi Ng, or yourself provide us with the approval.@

From Frances Nunziata, Ward 27, York-Humber

(February 25, 1998)

ACould you please place the attached correspondence on the agenda for the next meeting of the York Community Council on April 1st.

I will be notifying the local Ratepayer Association of this fact and it is possible that they may wish to make a deputation. If that is the case, I will ask them to contact you directly.

Thank you for your assistance.@

(From Director of Professional Services, Operations Services Department) to the Consumer Service Manager, Toronto Hydro-Electric Commission, York Office

(February 4, 1998)

I have received a copy of your letters dated January 27, 1998 to Councillor Nunziata and Councillor Saundercook regarding:

1. Additional street lighting on Queen=s Drive at Jane Street; and

2. Lack of street lighting on Scarlett Road at Edinborough Court - TTC stop next to Lambton Golf and Country Club.

As you identified this morning by phone that the street lighting on Queen=s Drive at Jane Street is Abelow standard@, in keeping with Council=s policy, I am prepared to approved the proposed installation at the estimated cost of $1,500.

With reference to the Scarlett Road location, you note in your letter that Alighting levels satisfy standards@. In this case, we do not have authority to proceed with any work until the budget is approved.

Thank you for your co-operation.@
