7.REMOVAL OF NEW STOP SIGN ON AVA ROAD AT HILL PLACE

 (February 18, 1998) York Community Council - Reference Report 2, Clause 7 (e)

The York Community Council reports having deferred considered of the following communication; and have regard to the Cedarvale Traffic Plan, requested the Commissioner of Planning and Urban Development Services, to direct staff (York Civic Centre) to submit a status report to its April 1, 1998 meeting, including traffic control measures which have been implemented, measures proposed, and the cost of the contract:

(January 27, 1998) From Councillor Joe Mihevc, Ward 28 - York -Eglinton

I have received many requests from constituents in the area of Ava Road and Hill Place regarding the removal of the Stop Sign that has been installed at Ava Road and Hill Place.

The constituents believe that the area of Ava Road and Hill Place is not a traffic problem area, neither with volume or speed.

It appears that the new Stop Sign increases noise and air pollution as cars stop and start and creates an inconvenience to drivers.

The installation of the Stop Sign is peripheral to the overall Cedarvale traffic plan. I would therefore request that staff poll the immediate area as to the removal of the Stop Sign and report back to Community Council.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
