3.ARTS YORK - COUNCIL REPRESENTATION ON BOARD OF DIRECTORS

WARD 27, YORK-HUMBER AND WARD 28, YORK-EGLINTON.

Councillor Frances Nunziata, Ward 27, York-Humber

(March 31, 1998)

Please find attached a copy of a letter from Arts York in reference to their request for a York Councillor to sit on their Board.

I believe this is an issue that should be placed on the agenda for the next available York Community Council meeting.

Thank you.

Chair, Board of Directors, Arts York

(March 26, 1998)

I am writing on behalf of the Board of Directors for Arts York to request representation on our Board by one of York=s Councillors. As you may already know, we are an incorporated, not-for-profit organization with a mission to enhance the quality of life for residents of York by bringing together community members to create an environment in which the arts and culture will flourish. Enclosed is a copy of our recently completed Community Cultural Plan.

Membership in our Board of Directors has always included one of York=s Councillors. With the changes in our city, we currently have no Councillor on our Board. We feel this representation is of vital importance - for Arts York and for the Community Council.

We meet the third Wednesday of every month (except summer months) in Committee Room >B= at the York Civic Services Centre. Please call me, or the administrator for Arts York, Liliana D=Avella at 394-2560, if you have any questions and to let us know whether or not we can continue to count on Council representation. Thank you very much.

(The Community Cultural Plan is on file in the Clerk=s Office, York Civic Service Centre.)
