Poll Results: Proposal for On-street Permit Parking on Atlas Avenue, Between

Watford Avenue and Normanna Avenue; and Between Durham Avenue and

Eglinton Avenue West

Comments from Residents:

In Favour:

(a)Please proceed to implement on-street permit parking. Hope this helps with your decision.

(b)I am in favour, as long as >no parking= is strictly enforced in the school zone from Watford to Normanna. Safety of school children must come first.

(c)I would really like to see this proposal go through with our government, seeing that my household has more than one vehicle. I am forced to park on Atlas Avenue (between Durham and Ava Rd.). Since November, I have been tagged three times and would really appreciate the opportunity to obtain permit parking.

(d)This proposal seems reasonable to me and is perhaps long overdue. However, perhaps a trial period would be worth considering in order to fully judge it. Maybe a one-year trial period might be worth suggesting.

In any event, I am in favour of the proposal.

 Not In Favour:

(a)Since there are no parking facilities on Atlas Avenue and only residents park on the street, I don=t think there should be a need for a permit.

(b)The proposal is stupid and the area is all screwed up already because of the implementation of the signs which prohibit the residents from getting home between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., which causes inconvenience to residents and relatives who are visiting. Therefore, this proposal is stupid! Please feel free to call me any time (phone # on file).

(c)We are totally against this proposal. Enough has been done to screw up traffic in this area and now you want me to pay to park on my own street! This is a total tax grab. Go to hell!

(d)I am in favour of Gloucester to Eglinton only since this area is used for subway parking. Should this proposal be reproduced for any reason, allow people to vote on individual sections.

(e)I think it would be a great safety concern for the section between Durham and Ava because of the school being across the street. The possibility of children running out from between parked cars to cross over to the school is a very real concern. Thank you for your consideration

(f)i)I pay taxes and I see no need to pay extra for the privilege of parking my car on the street in front of my house.

ii)My guests should be able to park freely on the street during the day.

iii)All of the houses on Atlas Ave. from Durham Ave. to Eglinton Ave. have driveways and do not need street parking overnight.

iv)The car density in this ward is already so high that the main streets are unable to handle the traffic flow. We do not need more parking to allow even more cars residing in this ward.

(g)Not in favour. There is adequate parking for most homes between Durham and Eglinton Ave. on Atlas Ave.

(h)We strongly disagree with this proposal on the basis that:

i)Most of the homes on Atlas Avenue have private driveways to accommodate residents= parking needs.

ii)This may attract people who don=t even live on Atlas Avenue to obtain parking permits on Atlas and create a >parking lot= for >freeloaders=.

iii)Atlas Avenue is a very quiet residential street. We don=t need cars to be parked throughout this road and create congestion.

(i)On my block of Atlas Ave. (between Ava Rd. and Gloucester Grove), every house has a driveway.

(j)Just another attempt to take from the taxpayers of Toronto.

(k)The current parking situation suits the needs of all residents.
