Poll Results: Proposal for On-street Permit Parking on Belvidere Avenue,

Between Oakwood Avenue and Atlas Avenue

Comments from Residents:

 In Favour:

(a)I think vans of any kind should not be given permits. Vans block visibility of traffic, vehicle and pedestrian, making safe driving difficult. I enter and exit my driveway a dozen times a day. This is a hazardous move at best. Vans blocking the view make it worse.

My neighbour, at sixty-three, has three vehicles (2 cars and 1 van) and even though he has a driveway which goes to the back of his house, only one car is ever parked on the street. Their van is never parked in front of their house (which would block their visibility), but in front of #61 or #59, which blocks my visibility.

First of all, they should only be allowed one permit as they have ample parking space for two vehicles in their driveway! Second, if two permits are given, please do not give it to the van. It should be in their driveway or at least parked in front of the house. Licence plate 720 AVY.(b)It=s convenience to everybody, especially to the visitors who have cars.

 Not In Favour:

(a)I would like to see proposal carried out annually. This would recognize changes in residency and changes in needs.

(b)As the bank at the corner of Oakwood and Belvidere has parking space for only two cars, Belvidere has to accommodate the other employees= and customers= cars, plus the employees and customers for the businesses on Oakwood and Vaughan in the vicinity. To allow permit holders to leave their cars parked for twenty-four hours for seven consecutive days would make it impossible for the other residents to have any parking for visitors or service people.
