Poll Results: Proposal for On-street Permit Parking on Winona Drive, Between

Vaughan Road and Eglinton Avenue West

 Comments from Residents:

 In Favour:

(a)We have no objection for the above subject.

(b)This proposal is one of the best ways to solve some traffic problems in this area.

 Not In Favour:

 (a)No way!

(b)Permits are not necessary. There is ample parking in this area. Many people do not have access to a driveway.

(c)I would not like to see my friends get tickets when they come to visit nor would I like feeling nervous about it should I need to park on the street. The projected revenue suggested ($4200) could certainly be raised by ticketing people who:

i)enter the street between 7-7 who do not live in the community

ii)come up the wrong way on this street

iii)speeders (I=ll bet no one has ever been stopped for this)

iv)litter on the street.

(d)How can you consider this? Even now when cars (including police) park illegally on the street outside the donut store and elsewhere you can=t drive through on Winona. It becomes one lane and there are two lanes of traffic needed. Why don=t you concentrate on more important things: i.e.: delay the traffic light at Eglinton so we don=t have gridlock at 8 - 9 a.m. workdays. You could avoid all the gridlock and problems by taking away the one-way street signs and cars would then fan out instead of clogging several unfortunate streets.
