19.REQUEST TO RESCIND THE ONE HOUR PARKING REGULATION ONLIPPINCOTT STREET WEST, Ward 27, York-Humber.

Director, Professional Services, Works and Emergency Services Department,

York Civic Centre

(August 13, 1998)

Purpose:

Councillor Bill Saundercook is requesting a report on the feasibility of rescinding the existing one (1) hour maximum parking regulation on Lippincott Street West.

Funding Sources, Financial Implications and Impact Statement:

Traffic budget.

Recommendations:

Subject to a poll revealing the majority of residents are in favour, York Community Council approve rescinding the one (1) hour maximum parking regulation on Lippincott Street West between Weston Road and Denison Road, during the hours 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., except Sundays and Holidays.

Council Reference/Background History:

Mr. Murray Robinson, 30 Lippincott Street West, through Councillor Bill Saundercook's office is requesting a report on the feasibility of rescinding the one (1) hour maximum parking regulation, during the hours 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., except Sundays and Holidays.

Comments and/or Discussion and/or Justification:

Lippincott Street West traverses in an east/west direction, between Weston Road and Denison Road, providing two-way vehicular traffic flow.

Currently on-street parking on Lippincott Street West is legally permitted on the north side, exclusively. The parking duration is a maximum signed one (1) hour limit, during the hours 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., except Sundays and Holidays, with an unsigned maximum three (3) hour parking limit for all other times.

Conclusions:

Rescinding the signed one (1) hour parking regulation on Lippincott Street West between Weston Road and Denison Road would provide the local residents a longer on-street parking duration, that being three (3) hours, for both their visitors and themselves during the day.

We, therefore, support the request to rescind the current daytime one (1) hour parking regulation on Lippincott Street West between Weston Road and Denison Road.
