9.DEPUTATIONS.

The York Community Council, at its meeting held on July 22, 1998, requested that Clause (hh) embodied in Report No.2 of its meeting held on February 18, 1998 be brought forward for consideration at its next meeting.

The York Community Council reports having decided on the following procedure with respect to deputations, for a trial period of six months:

(1)at the beginning of the meeting, the Chair will ask members of the public to identify the items on which they wish to speak;

(2)if the item is listed on the regular or supplementary agenda, the Community Council will dispense with the required written notice of intent to speak;

(3)the Community Council will then, as the first order of business, set aside time to hear these deputations consecutively, allowing for submissions of approximately 3 to 5 minutes, and will render its decisions as soon as possible thereafter; and

(4)if a member of the public wishes to speak on an item which is not listed on the agenda, the Community Council will decide by majority vote whether or not to hear the deputant.
