11.TRAFFIC CONCERNS - AILEEN AVENUE BETWEEN KEELE STREET AND SILVERTHORN AVENUE, Ward 27, York-Humber.

Councillor Frances Nunziata, Ward 27, York-Humber

(October 22, 1998)

I have recently been contacted by a resident residing on Aileen Avenue stating concern regarding the traffic on the street.

Firstly, the resident has indicated that a number of vehicles are using Aileen Avenue to bypass making the left at the signalized intersection at Rogers Road, just south of Aileen Avenue. This resident has indicated that vehicles turning left from Keele Street to Aileen Avenue are having trouble making the turn without mounting the curb due to the rate of speed travelling southbound on Keele Street. The resident also indicated that the postal box located on the south of Aileen Avenue has been hit and thrown by vehicles on four (4) separate occasions, in which he has witnessed, the most recently being Friday, October 16, 1998. Just prior to that incident, two young people were leaning against the box talking and were very lucky to have left the location just minutes before it was struck by a vehicle.

This resident also stated concerns about the speed of the cars travelling on Aileen Avenue.

With the above in mind, I am requesting a staff report of the traffic situation on Aileen Avenue and further, that the above-mentioned concerns be addressed in that report.
