16.TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES ON GREENBROOK DRIVE,
Ward 27, York Humber.
Councillor Frances Nunziata, Ward 27, York-Humber.
(October 29, 1998)
As you know, the above noted issue was subject to discussion and a vote at the last meeting of the York Community
Council.
I would ask that the attached petitions on this particular matter be added to the agenda of our next York Community
Council meeting as a communication, so that the petitions can become part of the public record.
Children=s Disapproval:
We, the children of Greenbrook Drive do not approve of the removal of the speed bumps. The street has had less traffic
and the cars have been going much slower. There is a much less chance of us being hurt. The road is much calmer and is a
much safer place. We understand that a small group of people would like to remove the bumps, and we totally disapprove.
We would like to keep the four speed bumps as well as finish the street with another four. The people just think that they
are ugly and do not know how many years it has taken us just to get this far.
Therefore we the signed below disagree with the removal of the speed bumps.
(Approximately 37 signatures.)
We, the undersigned residing at Greenbrook Drive herewith agree to the addition of four more traffic calming speed
bumps. We also hold an opposition to the proposed discontinuation of the four more bumps and the removal of the
existing ones.
(Approximately 37 signatures.)
At the request of the residents of Greenbrook Drive, the City has contracted to install the four (4) remaining traffic
calming devices.
We, the undersigned, hereby state/restate our agreement with the completion of the traffic calming project on Greenbrook
Drive.
(Approximately 88 signatures.)
(Copies of the petitions referred to in the foregoing communication, were forwarded to all Members of Council with the
agenda of the York Community Council meeting of November 12, 1998 and copies thereof are on file in the Clerk's
Department, York Civic Centre.)
