Amendment to Former City of Toronto By-law No. 379-80 -
Designation of Employees as Provincial Offences Officers
Under the Provincial Offences Act, R.S.O. 1990, CH.P.33
The Toronto Community Council recommends the adoption of the following report
(March 13, 1998) from the Toronto Community Council Solicitor:
Purpose:
To amend former City of Toronto By-law No. 379-80 - Designation of Employees as provincial
Offences Officers under the Provincial Offences Act, R.S.O. 1990, CH. P.33
Funding Sources, Financial Implications and Impact Statement:
Not applicable
Recommendations:
(1) That former City of Toronto By-law No. 379-80 be further amended:
(1) by adding the following Buildings and Inspections employees to Schedule "A":
SULLIVAN, S.
HIGGINS, M.
(2) That authority be granted for the introduction of the necessary bill in Council to give
effect to the foregoing.
Council Reference/Background/History:
On April 28, 1980, the former City of Toronto Council passed By-law No. 379-80, being a By-law to authorize employees of various City departments to be Provincial Offences Officers.
Comments and/or Discussion and/or Justification:
As a Provincial Offences Officer, the employee is authorized to enforce all municipal by-laws
and all offences under related Provincial statutes and regulations thereunder, including the
issuing of Offence Notices under Part 1 of the Provincial Offences Act.
Conclusions:
As a result of staff changes within Urban Development Services, it is necessary to appoint certain
additional employees as Provincial Offences Officers.

WHEREAS by Clause ___ of Report No. ___ of the Toronto Community Council
adopted by Council at its meeting held on April 15, 1998, it is recommended that former City of
Toronto By-law No. 379-80 be further amended;
The Council of the City of Toronto HEREBY ENACTS as follows:
1. Former City of Toronto By-law No. 379-80, being "A By-law To appoint
Provincial Offences Officers" as amended, is further amended:
(1) by adding the following Buildings and Inspections employees to Schedule
"A":
SULLIVAN, S.
HIGGINS, M.
