 Bill No. 229

 BY-LAW No.

  To appoint and delineate certain duties and responsibilities

of the Chief Building Official for the City of Toronto.

 WHEREAS section 3 of the Building Code Act, 1992, requires the council of each municipality to appoint a chief building official;

 WHEREAS Yaman Uzumeri has been hired as Executive Director of the Building Division of the Urban Planning and Development Services Department;

 WHEREAS it is expedient to appoint Yaman Uzumeri, Chief Building Official for the City of Toronto;

 The Council of the City of Toronto HEREBY ENACTS as follows:

 1.Yaman Uzumeri is hereby appointed Chief Building Official for the City of Toronto for a term expiring three (3) years from the date this by-law comes into force.

 2.In addition to all of the powers and duties conferred upon the Chief Building Official by statute and any other by-laws, the Chief Building Official shall possess all of the powers and duties of the Chief Building Officials for the former Cities of Etobicoke, North York, Scarborough, Toronto and York and the former Borough of East York.

 3.That, on an interim basis, the following staff be appointed Deputy Chief Building Officials with all the powers and duties conferred on the Chief Building Official to be exercised in such manner and upon such occasions as are specified by the Chief Building Official:

  

4. Where this by-law conflicts with the provision of any other by-law setting out the

powers and duties of a municipal official, this by-law prevails to the extent of the conflict.



5. This by-law shall come into force on the date of its enactment.
