Procedural By-Law Amendment to Permit
Request for Recorded Votes at Meetings of
Standing Committees and Committees of Council
The Special Committee to Review the Final Report of the Toronto Transition Team recommends that the Council
Procedural By-law be amended to provided that recorded votes be permitted at Standing Committee and Task
Force meetings.
The Special Committee to Review the Final Report of the Toronto Transition Team submits the following
communication (June 14, 1998) from Ms. Rhona Swarbrick, Etobicoke Citizens for Effective Government:
The "request for a recorded vote" has recently been incorporated into the procedures for meetings of Community Councils.
What remains now is to amend the by-law to include the provision for a call for a recorded vote at all political meetings
(i.e., Standing Committees and other Committees of Council).
It would be appreciated if this item could be included in the Friday, June 26, 1998 agenda. We will be available at that time
to depute (if required), or respond to questions Committee Members may want to ask.
We suggest that the amendment clarify that the results of recorded votes be included in the reports that go to Council as
well as in the minutes of the committee meetings.
