To amend Procedural By-law No. 23-1998 respecting the reporting
relationships of the Audit Committee and the City Auditor.
The Council of the City of Toronto HEREBY ENACTS as follows:
1. By-law No. 23-1998, being a by-law "To Govern the Proceedings of the Council and the Committees thereof", as amended, is amended by deleting section 83 and substituting the following:
"Audit Committee 83. (1) There shall be an Audit Committee which shall be responsible for arranging for and considering the annual external audit of the City’s books and shall report directly to Council.
(2) The City Auditor shall report to Council through the Audit Committee.
(3) Despite subsection (2), nothing in this section shall be deemed to authorize the Audit Committee to prohibit or interfere with the City Auditor in carrying out his or her statutory duties under provincial legislation."
2. Subparagraph 90(7) of By-law No. 23-1998, being a by-law "To Govern the Proceedings of the Council and the Committees thereof", as amended, is amended by deleting the words "from the Finance, Legal and Audit departments", and substituting the following:
"from the Finance and Legal departments".
