Appointment of Medical Officer of Health

(City Council on March 4, 5 and 6, 1998, adopted this Clause, without amendment.)

The Board of Health recommends that:

1. Dr. Sheela Basrur be appointed Medical Officer of Health for the City of Toronto Health Unit;

2. the Minister of Health be requested to approve this appointment; and

3. authority be granted for the introduction of the necessary bill in Council to give effect to these recommendations.

The Board of Health gave consideration to the joint confidential report (March 2, 1998) from the Executive Director, Human Resources and the Commissioner, Community and Neighbourhoods Services respecting the selection process for the Acting Medical Officer of Health.

The Board of Health adjourned to discuss the aforementioned confidential report in-camera and announced the foregoing recommendations to its public session.
