Subject: 2000-2004 Capital Budget
Recommendation:
The Community Services Committee on December 1, 1999, recommended to the Budget Advisory Committee the adoption
of the following Capital Budgets under the auspices of the Community Services Committee:
(a) Children's Services;
(b) Homes for the Aged;
(c) Shelter, Housing and Support;
(d) Social Services;
(e) Ambulance Services; and
(f) Fire Services.
Background:
The Community Services Committee had before it a communication (November 17, 1999) from the City Clerk advising
that the Budget Advisory Committee has completed its preliminary review of the 2000-2004 Capital Budget for the
following:
(a) Children's Services;
(b) Homes for the Aged;
(c) Shelter, Housing and Support;
(d) Social Services;
(e) Ambulance Services; and
(f) Fire Services;
and directed that:
(1) the 2000-2004 Capital Budget be forwarded to all Community Councils and relevant Standing Committees for
consideration;
(2) the preliminary requests of the Budget Advisory Committee be forwarded to the Community Councils and Standing
Committees for information; and
(3) the Community Councils and Standing Committees be requested to forward their recommendations pertaining to the
2000-2004 Capital Budget to the Budget Advisory Committee prior to the commencement of the "wrap-up" meetings on
December 9, 1999.
The following persons gave presentations to the Community Services Committee on their respective Capital Budgets:
- Mr. Glenn Vollebregt, Director, Budget Services Division;
- Mr. Petr Varmuza, Assistant Director, Children's Services Division;
- Ms. Sandra Pitters, General Manager, Homes for the Aged Division;
- Mr. John Jagt, Director of Hostel Services, Shelter, Housing and Support Division;
- Ms. Heather MacVicar, General Manager, Social Services Division; and
- Fire Chief Alan Speed.
