Subject: Update on the Toronto Police Service Year 2000 Operating Budget.
The Policy and Finance Committee on November 10, 1999:
(1) referred the report (October 12, 1999) from the Toronto Police Services Board respecting the Board's 2000 Operating
Budget, to the Budget Advisory Committee for consideration; and
(2) requested the Toronto Police Services Board to submit its year 2000 Operating Budget to the Budget Advisory
Committee as all other Agencies, Boards and Commissions are required to do.
Background:
The Policy and Finance Committee on November 10, 1999, had before it a report (October 12, 1999) from the Chairman,
Toronto Police Services Board advising of the following action taken by the Toronto Police Services Board at its meeting
on September 23, 1999, during its consideration of a report (September 17, 1999) from the Chairman, Toronto Police
Services Board, entitled "Update on the Toronto Police Service Year 2000 Operating Budget":
"(1) the Board approve the Toronto Police Service Year 2000 Operating Budget High Level Estimate as presented to the
Policy and Budget Sub-Committee on September 15, 1999. That the Chief of Police forward the information to the City of
Toronto for their preparation of preliminary estimates of the City's Year 2000 budget;
(2) the Board consider the possibility of including the capping of legal fees as a future bargaining issue; and
(3) the Board approve the following representatives, that being the Chairman, Board Member Sandy Adelson and Board
staff, as part of the joint working group between the Board and the Service for the implementation of the Police Adequacy
and Effectiveness Standards;"; and
recommending that the aforementioned report be received for information.
