Subject:Ticketing of Cyclists Not Obeying Stop Signs
The Education and Safety Sub-Committee at its May 25, 1999 meeting, discussed the recent ticketing of cyclists by Police
Officers of 52 Division. Allegedly, many cyclists were not coming to complete stops at stop signs (identifiable by the
cyclist putting one foot on the pavement).
NOW magazine has reported many letters to the editor on this subject.
The Sub-Committee has invited P.C. Peter Harmsen, Toronto Police Service, to speak to the Toronto Cycling Committee
regarding this issue.
