Subject:Transit Shelter Poster on Bicycle Safety
In July 1999, a transit shelter poster campaign will focus on bicycle safety. The poster will focus on one message,
"Motorists, to turn right, merge into the bike lane when it is clear". The image on the poster is a right turning motorist and a
cyclist riding straight through the intersection ahead of the car.
This poster campaign is based on the 1998 Right Turns & Bikes poster campaign. Similar themes are covered in the 1999
Campaign.
Due to the tight time lines of this campaign, I have had to consult with only a few people. I have received feedback from
Councillor Jack Layton, Chair of the Toronto Cycling Committee, Mr. Phil Piltch and Ms. Marleen Van Laethem
Co-Chairs of the Toronto Cycling Committee's Education and Safety Sub Committee.
