MEMORANDUM

June 29, 1999

TO: Yvonne Davies

Committee Administrator

East York Community Council

FROM: Councillor Jane Pitfield

RE: Water quality on St. Cuthbert's Road pre and post water main work.

I would like to request that staff in the Water & Wastewater Services Division investigate and report back to the September meeting of East York Community Council on the water quality improvements and any measured change in pressure before and after the work has been completed.

Residents in the area are indicating that the water pressure increases at the time that the temporary lines are in service. When the water returns to the permanent lines the pressure is not only lower than the temporary lines provided, but lower than the pressure was initially.

I realize that the water main improvements are meant to improve quality of water, but this should not be at the expense of quantity of water in neighbourhoods where the water pressure is already poor.

I bring this to the attention of Community Council members and residents of the ward for comment and for information.

Could you please include this item on the agenda of the East York Community Council meeting being held on Thursday July 15th, 1999. I would also request that Mr. Jim Hutton be copied on any staff response.

Thank you,

JANE PITFIELD

Councillor - Ward 1

East York

cc: Mr. Jim Hutton, 31 St. Cuthbert's Road, East York, Ontario
