Subject:Sheppard Subway

Status of Permits and Approvals

Purpose:

The purpose of this report is to keep Council abreast of the status and development of the Sheppard Subway.

Recommendations:

It is recommended that this report be received as information.

Council Reference/Background/History:

The attached table provides an overview of the various permit applications and tabulates the current status of the necessary permits and approvals for the Sheppard Subway Stations and for the Emergency Exit Buildings (EEB's). Toronto Transit Commission staff and City staff are working cooperatively to resolve permit issues on an ongoing basis.

Subway Stations:

Yonge Station:Building Permit issued Jan. 5, 1999.

Construction not started.

Bayview Station:Building Permit application review completed on Dec. 16, 1998. Permit not issued pending the execution of the site plan agreement which is imminent. Site Plan Control (SPC) was approved on March 5, 1999.

Construction not started.

Bessarion Station:Building Permit application review completed as of March 5, 1999. Fire review, SPC and Toronto Transportation approvals still outstanding.

Construction not started.

Leslie Station:Building Permit issued Oct. 26, 1998.

Construction 50% complete.

Don Mills Station:Building Permit issued Aug. 12, 1998.

Foundations under construction.

Don MillsBuilding Permit issued Aug. 10, 1998.

Parking Phase IConstruction completed.

Don MillsBuilding Permit issued April 1, 1998.

Parking Phase IIColumns under construction.

Emergency Exit Buildings:

Sheppard West:Building Permit issued Sept. 22, 1998.

Construction 90% complete.

Sheppard/Wilfred:Building Permit issued Oct. 30, 1998.

Construction not started.

Glendora Park:Building Permit issued Oct. 26, 1998.

Construction not started.

Sheppard East:Building Permit issued Oct. 26, 1998.

Construction not started.

Conclusions:

This report is an update on the status and approvals of permits and construction for the tunnels and stations for the Sheppard Subway. If future permit issues are affecting the construction progress for the project, Council will be kept informed.
