1 June 1999

To:Chairman and Members of the North York Community Council

From:Roberto Stopnicki, Director,

Transportation Services - District 3

Subject:Parking Prohibitions: Inez Court

North York Centre

Purpose:

To restrict parking on the south side of Inez Court, from Fairchild Avenue to the easterly limit of Inez Court.

Source of funds:

All costs associated with the installation of the parking restrictions are included within the 1999 operating budget.

Recommendations:

That Schedule VIII of By-Law No. 31001, of the former City of North York, be amended to prohibit parking from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, on the south side of Inez Court, from Fairchild Avenue to the easterly limit of Inez Court.

Background:

Councillor Norm Gardner's office has been advised by residents of Inez Court that there are numerous vehicles parked, for extended periods of time on the south side of the roadway, east of Fairchild Avenue.

Currently, parking is prohibited at any time on the north side of the roadway and within the cul-de-sac of Inez Court. Parking is permitted for up to a maximum of three hours on the south side of Inez Court

Discussion:

During an investigation by staff of the Transportation Services Division of the Works and Emergency Services Department, the residents' concern was confirmed as numerous vehicles were parked on Inez Court.

Despite previous requests to the Toronto Police Services for enforcement of the three hour parking limit, motorists continue to park their vehicles on the roadway.

Councillor Gardner has surveyed the affected residents and has obtained support to prohibit parking from 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, on the south side of Inez Court, from Fairchild Avenue to the easterly limit of the roadway. Councillor Filion has indicated that he has no objection, provided the residents support the proposed amendments.

Conclusions:

The installation of the parking prohibitions will provide relief for the local residents, who support the parking amendments.
