Subject: Parking Prohibitions: Clair Road

North York Humber

Purpose:

To amend the current parking regulations on the north side of Clair Road, between Laura Road and Jane Street.

Financial Implications and Impact Statement:

All costs associated with the installation of the parking restrictions are included within the 1999 operating budget.

Recommendations:

It is recommended that:

(1) Schedule VIII of By-Law No. 31001, of the former City of North York, be amended to delete the no parking at anytime regulations on the north side of Clair Road, between Mayberry Road and Jane Street;

(2) Schedule VIII of By-Law No. 31001, of the former City of North York, be amended to prohibit parking on the north side of Clair Road, between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., from the easterly limit of Laura Road to a point 102 metres west of Jane Street;

(3) Schedule VIII of By-Law 31001, of the former City of North York, be amended to prohibit parking on the north side of Clair Road at anytime, from a point 102 metres west of Jane Street to a point 86 metres west of Jane Street; and

(4) Schedule VIII of By-Law No. 31001, of the former City of North York, be amended to prohibit parking on the north side of Clair Road, between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., from a point 86 metres west of Jane Street to the the westerly limit of Jane Street.

Background:

Currently, parking is prohibited at any time on both sides of Clair Road, east of Mayberry Road. Parking is permitted for maximum periods of up to three hours on both sides of Clair Road, west of Mayberry Road.

Comments:

Councillor George Mammoliti advised staff of the Transportation Services Division that residents of Clair Road, east of Mayberry Road, have requested that the no parking at anytime regulations on the north side of the road be replaced with no parking between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. In addition, that parking also be prohibited between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on the north side of Clair Road, between Laura Road and Mayberry Road. The resident of 22 Clair Road, with the support of Councillor Mammoliti, has requested that parking remain prohibited at anytime adjacent to their property.

Conclusions:

This Division supports the proposed parking amendments, as requested by the residents.
