Subject: All Way Stop Control: Carmichael Avenue at Allard Avenue
North York Centre South
Purpose:
To install an all way stop control, to improve pedestrian and motorist safety, at the intersection of Carmichael Avenue and
Allard Avenue.
Financial Implications and Impact Statement:
All costs associated with the installation of the all way stop control are included within the 1999 operating budget.
Recommendations:
It is recommended that:
(1) That Schedules XVIII and XIX of By-Law No. 31001, of the former City of North York, be amended to require traffic
to stop on all approaches to the intersection of Carmichael Avenue and Allard Avenue.
Background:
The Transportation Services Division of the Works and Emergency Services Department has reviewed a request to install
an all way stop control at the intersection of Carmichael Avenue and Allard Avenue.
Comments:
Currently, eastbound and westbound motorists on Carmichael Avenue are required to stop at Allard Avenue.
The results of the most recent all way stop study has concluded that the technical requirements for the installation of an all
way stop control have been satisfied.
Conclusions:
This Division supports the installation of an all way stop control at the intersection of Carmichael Avenue and Allard
Avenue, to control the right-of-way of both pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
