DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST PURSUANT TO

THE MUNICIPAL CONFLICT OF INTEREST ACT.

DEPUTATIONS/PRESENTATIONS.

COMMUNICATIONS/REPORTS:

APPOINTMENTS TO THE INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL FOR LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES (ICLEI), THE DORA MAVOR MOORE AWARDS, BOARD OF DIRECTORS, AND THE CITY OF TORONTO FRENCH COMMITTEE (COMITÈ FRANCIS DE LA VILLE DE TORONTO)

Recommending that the Striking Committee give consideration to Members' preferences outlined in the attached Schedule 1 and recommend to City Council the appointment of:

(1) one Member of Council as the City's candidate to run for election to serve on the Executive Committee of the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) for a term of office commencing August 1, 2000, and expiring on November 30, 2000, and until his or her successor is appointed;

(2) one Member of Council to the Dora Mavor Moore Awards, Board of Directors, for a term of office expiring on November 30, 2000, and until his or her successor is appointed; and

(3) up to four Members of Council to the City of Toronto French Committee (Comitè francis de la ville de Toronto) for a term of office expiring on November 30, 2000, and until their successors are appointed.

1(a). Councillor Joan King, Seneca Heights

Advising that Councillor King's term on the Executive of ICLEI will expire in August 2000; that it is important that the City of Toronto have representation on the Executive, especially since the World Secretariat is housed in Toronto; that the City of Toronto representative will need to submit his or her name to the World Secretariat by December 31, 1999, to be considered for election to the ICLEI Executive; and suggesting that the Striking Committee consider nominating Councillor Jack Layton as the City of Toronto's representative on ICLEI.

1(b). Jeb Brugmann, Secretary General, ICLEI

Providing information relating to the nominations procedure for candidates for the upcoming ICLEI Executive Committee election.

1(c). David Baile, Treasurer, Dora Mavor Moore Awards

(November 16, 1999)

Requesting City Council to appoint a Member of Council to the Dora Mavor Moore Awards, Board of Directors; and further requesting, for reasons outlined in this communication, that Councillor Kyle Rae be so appointed.
