Subject:Introduction of Permit Parking on the South Side of Ostend Avenue, between Durie Street and Windermere
Avenue (High Park)
Purpose:
To report on the introduction of permit parking on the south side of Ostend Avenue, between Durie Street and Windermere
Avenue, on a street name basis, to operate during the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., 7 days a week.
Funding Sources, Financial Implications and Impact Statement:
Not applicable.
Recommendations:
The Toronto Community Council may recommend that:
(1)permit parking be introduced on the south side of Ostend Avenue, between Durie Street and Windermere Avenue, on a
street name basis, to operate during the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., 7 days a week;
(2)Schedule A of Municipal Code Chapter 400, Traffic and Parking, of the former City of Toronto Municipal Code, be
amended to incorporate the south side of Ostend Avenue, between Durie Street and Windermere Avenue; and
(3)the appropriate City Officials be authorized and directed to take the necessary action to give effect thereto, including the
introduction of all necessary bills.
Background:
A request was received from Councillor Chris Korwin-Kuczynski, on behalf of the residents, to introduce permit parking
on the south side of Ostend Avenue, between Durie Street and Windermere Avenue.
Comments:
Under the provisions of Municipal Code Chapter 400, Traffic and Parking, of the former City of Toronto Municipal Code,
we are required to conduct a poll of the residents to determine if there is support to introduce permit parking on Ostend
Avenue, between Durie Street and Windermere Avenue.
Ballots were mailed out on November 12, 1998, with the last date for filing a response being December 14, 1998. The
results of the poll are as follows:
Polling Summary
The majority of the ballots returned are in favour of permit parking on the south side of Ostend Avenue, between Durie
Street and Windermere Avenue. It is therefore recommended that permit parking be introduced on the south side of Ostend
Avenue, on a street name basis, to operate during the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., 7 days a week.
