To: Pam McConnell, Chair and members of the Toronto Community Council
Dear Councillor McConnell:
RE: PERMIT PARKING ON CRAIGHURST AVENUE BETWEEN DUPLEX AVENUE AND ROSEWELL AVENUE
RECOMMENDATION:
That City staff report on the implementation of permit parking on Craighurst Avenue between Duplex Avenue and
Rosewell Avenue and; that the City Clerks office conduct a formal poll as soon as possible of residents on that block
concerning the establishment of permit parking.
Background
In May of 1999, I received a number of calls regarding the parking situation on Craighurst Avenue between Duplex
Avenue and Rosewell Avenue. I asked that the concerned residents put together a petition requesting the implementation of
permit parking on this section of Craighurst Avenue be investigated.
On June 8, 1999 I received the attached petition. The section of Craighurst Avenue is particularly vulnerable to
non-resident parking for extended periods of time. While the residents are aware that they reside in a large busy city, they
also reside on a street that has few private driveways, and is near a busy retail area. Therefore, I request that the Toronto
Community Council adopt the above noted reccomendation.
Yours Sincerely,
Michael Walker
Councillor - North Toronto
