November 3, 1999
WORKS COMMITTEE:
The Works Committee at its meeting on November 3, 1999, during consideration of a presentation by the Commissioner of
Works and Emergency Services on the Works and Emergency Services Capital Budget requirements, had before it a
motion by Councillor Shiner recommending that the Commissioner of Works and Emergency Services, in consultation
with the Commissioner of Urban Planning and Development Services and the Chief General Manager of the Toronto
Transit Commission, report on a process for the development of a transportation infrastructure implementation plan that
not only places a priority on the maintenance and rehabilitation of the City's existing assets, but also identifies strategic
investments in technological, operational and facility improvements which support the mobility needs of the City and the
City's role in the Greater Toronto Area.
The Works Committee:
(1) deferred consideration of the aforementioned motion by Councillor Shiner to the next meeting of the Committee,
scheduled to be held on December 1, 1999, with a request that the Commissioner of Works and Emergency Services, in
consultation with the Commissioner of Economic Development, Culture and Tourism, submit a report thereon to the
Committee; and
(2) further requested the Commissioner of Works and Emergency Services to bring forward at that time the Sustainable
Transportation Report.
