Subject: Reconstruction of Prince Edward Drive - Phase II, from Sunnylea Avenue West

to Beaucourt Road

Contract No. EB9906BDR, Tender Call No. 273-1999

(Etobicoke Lakeshore-Queensway, Ward 2)

Purpose: The purpose of this report is to advise of the results of the Tender, issued for the reconstruction of Prince Edward Drive - Phase II from Sunnylea Avenue West to Beaucourt Road, in accordance with specifications as required by the Works and Emergency Services Department and to request the authority to issue a contract to the recommended bidder.

Sources of Funds: Funds are available in "Road Reconstruction-Etobicoke 1999", Sewer Rehabilitation-Etobicoke- Storm Sewers-Various Locations', and 'Watermain Rehabilitation-City Wide Water Service Repairs' accounts. Provision for carry-over of the required funds, from the appropriate accounts, from 1999 to year 2000 has been initiated.

Recommendations:

It is recommended that:

Contract No. EB9906BDR for the reconstruction of Prince Edward Drive-Phase II from Sunnylea Avenue West to Beaucourt Road be awarded to Paveco Road Builders Corp., in the total amount of $1,159,442.06, including all taxes and charges, being the lowest Tender received.

Background: The Bid Committee, at its meeting held on November 17, 1999, opened the following Tenders for Contract No. EB9906BDR, Tender Call No. 273-1999, for the reconstruction of Prince Edward Drive-Phase II from Sunnylea Avenue West to Beaucourt Road, including Storm Exfiltration Drainage System reconstruction and Upgrading of non-standard Water Service Connections:

Comments:

Re-construction of Prince Edward Drive-Phase II from Sunnylea Avenue West to Beaucourt Road will commence in the spring of 2000.

The tender documents submitted by the recommended bidder have been reviewed by the Commissioner of Works and Engineering Services and were found to be in conformance with the tender requirements.

The Manager, Fair Wage and Labour Trade Office, has reported favourably on the firm recommended

Conclusions:

This report requests authority to issue a contract for the Reconstruction of Prince Edward Drive- Phase II from Sunnylea Avenue West to Beaucourt Road, including Storm Exfiltration Drainage System reconstruction and upgrading of non-standard water service connections in accordance with the specifications to Paveco Road Builders Corp., being the lowest Tender received.
