REQUEST FOR PERMIT PARKING ON TESTON BOULEVARD

Ward 27, York-Humber

Director of Transportation Services, District 1

(March 15, 1999)

Purpose:

To respond to a former City of York Council request for a report on the feasibility of implementing on-street permit parking on Teston Boulevard.

Funding Sources:

The funds associated with the implementation of permit parking, estimated at $300.00, are contained in the Transportation Services Division 1999 Current Estimates.

Recommendation:

That subject to a poll revealing the majority of residents are in favour, York Community Council approve the implementation of on-street permit parking on Teston Boulevard.

Background:

The Works and Parks Committee of the former City of York Council, at its meeting on September22, 1997, requested a report on the feasibility of introducing on-street permit parking on Teston Boulevard.

Comments:

Teston Boulevard traverses in a north/south direction, between the southerly terminus of the street and Marshall Boulevard, providing two-way vehicular traffic flow.

Currently on-street parking is allowed at all times on the east side of Teston Boulevard for a maximum period of three (3) hours.

Field surveys reveal that there are 11 curbside parking spaces available on the east side of Teston Boulevard between the southerly terminus of the street and Marshall Boulevard. If the majority of residents are in favour, it is feasible to introduce on-street permit parking.
