REQUEST FOR PERMIT PARKING ON LANDOUR AVENUE

Ward 27, York-Humber

Purpose:

To respond to a request from York Community Council for a report on the feasibility of implementing on-street permit parking on Landour Avenue.

Funding Sources:

The funds associated with the implementation of permit parking, estimated at $100.00, are contained in the Transportation Services Division 1999 Current Estimates.

Recommendation:

That subject to a poll revealing the majority of residents are in favour, York Community Council approve the implementation of on-street permit parking on Landour Avenue.

Background:

York Community Council, at its meeting of December 9, 1998, in considering a communication from Councillor Frances Nunziata requested staff to report on the feasibility of introducing on-street permit parking on Landour Avenue.

Comments:

Landour Avenue operates two-way in a north/south direction, between the southerly terminus of the street and Hertford Avenue.

Currently on-street parking is allowed at all times on the east side of Landour Avenue, for a maximum period of three (3) hours.

Field surveys reveal that there are nine curbside parking spaces available on the east side of Landour Avenue between the southerly terminus of the street and Hertford Avenue. If the majority of residents are in favour, it is feasible to introduce on-street permit parking.
