and Plainfield Road
Comments from Residents:
In Favour:
(a)Very pleased with the proposal to implement permit parking. Long overdue. We have paid many fines over the years.
Looking forward to process.
(b)If you need any further information from us, please give us a call at the above number weekdays after 6:00, weekend
anytime. Thank you very much.
(c)When the permit comes, do you park in front of the house? That's the way I like to see it.
(d)Request two permits.
Not in Favour:
(a)Too many cars park on the street already. Joker's Wild cars are here all the time. I want my snow removed I want
parking space for my guest. Thank you.
(b)I am reconsidering the proposal. I am not in favour of the new "permit" direction. I do not believe the residents should
have to accommodate the two households that have more than two vehicles by requesting this implementation. This new
proposal may cause neighbourly disputes which currently occur today because of old or car repairs done on this street. Also,
for future considerations, this may one day impact the sale or value of property.
(c)I am definitely opposed to the new parking proposal. If this proposal was implemented, it would cause a great deal of
havoc and neighbourly disputes, etc. and impact the availability of visitors and/or family parking. Too much in restriction
rules.
(d)Prefer as is; however, if majority wants this new scheme, ask that the owners of homes get first preference to parking
space directly in front of their property. Also that these spaces not be used for commercial/customer purposes, including
exclusion of all commercial trucks, commercial vans, etc., even if owned by local residents. Also, that no permit would be
issued to anyone whose residence is not in the immediate vicinity; i.e. 1/8 of a mile. No business parking overnight (past 11
p.m.). Daily enforcement of the scheme. If the majority goes for the scheme, we want to be advised and want the space
directly in front of our property.
(e)Because of the limited number of parking spots - these spots are used mainly when homeowners have visitors
overnight or spending a few days with relatives - it will be better served if metre are placed or free parking on weekends
only.
Poll Results: Proposal for Implementation of On-street Permit Parking on Romanway Crescent, Between Wright Avenue
and Plainfield Road
(f)I wish for the parking situation to remain unchanged from current conditions. I am not in favour of parking permits.
(g)Because cars are parked on the same spot for a few days.
(h)Let people park in their own driveways. Street parking is for our guests.
(i)I do not want permit parking because we cannot control the cars that park from Joker's Wild Restaurant. I want the
snow removed. People have enough parking space in their driveways.
(j)Street will become too congested. It is very unfortunate that the majority of households do not park their cars in the
garage. Instead, they use their garages as a storage place.
(k)We don't want any cars parked on the street because I want the snow removed on the street near the curbs. We cannot
control any more cars from the jokers's Wild Restaurant park on the street. I want the parking space on the street if I receive
guests. Everyone can fit three cars at their house; two on driveway, on in garage.
(l)I am not in favour because we have problems to remove the snow.
(m)Streets are narrow and young children in the area. Streets will be too congested with cars.
407.Request for Permit Parking on Romanway Crescent,
Ward 27, York Humber
The York Community Council had before it a report (November 30, 1998) from the Director, Transportation Services,
District 1, advising that field surveys revealed that there is a total of 14 curbside parking spaces available on the west and
north sides of Romanway Crescent between Wright Avenue and Plainfield Road; and recommending that the City Clerk
undertake a poll of the residents on Romanway Crescent at the above location, to determine interest in introducing on-street
permit parking.
On motion by Councillor Nunziata, the Community Council approved the recommendation in the foregoing report.
