REQUEST FOR EXEMPTION FOR HOLDERS OF HANDICAPPED

PERMITS REGARDING OVERNIGHT PARKING PERMITS

Ward 28, York Eglinton.

Councillor J. Mihevc

(June 14, 1999)

Advising that in the former City of Toronto area parking by-laws permit vehicles with handicapped parking stickers to park overnight without an on-street parking permit; that in the former City of York by contrast, owners of vehicles with handicapped parking permits have to obtain on-street parking permits to park on their streets; that without such permits they are subject to receiving tickets and that a number of tickets have been issued recently; that the new City of Toronto is in the process of reviewing its parking by-law; that in the interim for the purposes of equity and given the proximity of the former Cities of York and Toronto areas that the former City of York by-law be amended to bring it into conformity with that of the City of Toronto.
