Proposal to Implement On-street Permit Parking on the West Side of Riverside Drive,

from a Point 58 Metres North of Bloor Street

Comments From Residents:

In Favour:

(a)We are in a very difficult situation because we don't have any place to park any cars in this area. I think a lot of people have the same problem.

(b)I am in favour of the proposal to implement on-street permit parking on Riverside. I have been living on this street eight years and it is very difficult to get on-street parking. Thank you.

(c)Hopefully, this will prevent residents of the City of Toronto using my street as their private parking lot.

(d)People with only one parking spot should be able to apply for permits ahead of those who have two parking spots. Several houses on this street have two-car parking in front. I have only one parking spot available. I believe if would only be fair to grant permits as follows:

1st - people with no parking

2nd - people with only one parking spot

3rd - other street residents.

Not In Favour:

(a)Very busy street; already too much traffic.

(b)The residents of Riverside Drive do not park on the street. People are constantly parking there. There are no spots available to allow switching of cars in the morning. Permit parking would make the problem worse. Allowing parking on the three streets west of Jane would distribute the cars.

(c)Everyone on the street has a driveway. Don't want to allow/encourage parking by people from adjoining streets, apartments in the area, park or subway users.

(d)I am not in favour of the proposal. However, if the decision to implement on-street permit parking is made, I wish to obtain such a privilege.

(e)Street is already congested and has high traffic. Too many children on street; might cause an accident if crossing street through the cars. There are no sidewalks, so we need some extra room on the street.

(f)People can use their driveways and parking garages. Was this proposed by people living on Bloor Street West apartment buildings?

(g)Parking spots should not be sold to people who do not live in the neighbourhood.

(h)Absolutely not!

(i)We already have cars parking on the street for days at a time.

(j)All these homes have long, private driveways. I see no reason for street parking to detract from these homes to create an ugly-looking area. Present parking not enforced enough with present regulations.

(k)Parking is needed as is for visitors. I walked the street this morning and every building has driveway parking, although one has fenced it off, leaving room for only two cars.
