Proposal to Change Direction of Traffic on the Portion of the Municipal Lane Between

Nickle Street and Mahoney Avenue from Two-Way to One-Way Southbound

Comments from Residents:

In Favour:

a)Anything that cuts down on people cutting through Cobalt would be a help. In addition, the speed that people drive on Cobalt is far too fast. It should be looked into.

b)It is too narrow for two-way traffic to pass at the corner of Nickle St. and the lane.

c)I hope it helps traffic as people go too fast, meeting each other at the corner of Nickle and Mahoney, because it is two-way. One-way would solve this trouble.

d)Why was the direction two-way to begin with? Parking along the whole street in question is abused; e.g.: cars double-parked, etc.

e)Would also like Mahoney Ave. to stop being a cut-through to Ray Ave. and a speedway with no regard for children.

f)Great idea! The house at the end of Mahoney has too many cars and people doing mechanical work that it is impossible to see if cars are coming. Even if this does not become one-way, the cars are making it a driving nightmare. Does the Parking Authority not ticket this laneway?

g)This proposal will be good for the residents.

h)Should have been done years ago.

i)Too many small children playing; also, the blind spot as you're coming around the bend.

Not In Favour:

a)I like having the option to come in off Weston Rd. (Mahoney) if there is construction/an accident/traffic on Jane St.

b)I don't agree with this proposal because it may bring more traffic to our street.

c)It is convenient to be able to access Nickle in both directions. The traffic at the end of Mahoney is getting more congested and will only continue to get worse once all the housing developments are completed. I have seen many near-accidents and accidents on Weston between Jane and Mahoney and have never seen any accidents at Nickle and the lane (one near-accident only).
