Traffic Calming in Wards 27, York Humber

and Ward 28, York Eglinton

Director of Transportation Services, District 1

(November 17, 1999)

Purpose:

To respond to a request from York Community Council for a report on the current status of various individual requests for traffic calming within both Wards 27 and 28.

Financial Implications:

There are no financial implications resulting from the adoption of this report.

Recommendation:

It is recommended that this report be received for information.

Background:

At its meeting of October 12, 1999, York Community Council requested a status report on traffic calming requests (Clause No. 8 (w) of Report No. 10).

Comments:

The attached Appendix provides York Community Council with a summary by Ward of the current status of each individual request for traffic calming.

With each of these requests, we will proceed with our normal process of: studies to determine whether traffic calming would be of benefit, preparation of a design, determination of majority support by a survey of the residents, and reporting to Community Council with a recommendation for advertisement and enactment of a by-law. Once the Transportation Services 2000 Capital Budget is approved, we will then report on the approved locations to determine the priority for installation in 2000.
