Zero Tolerance for Garbage in Laneways

Ward 28, York-Eglinton

Councillor Mihevc

(November 1, 1999)

With respect to the above we request that:

1. Vacuum machines go into the laneways once per week to clean up the mess.

2. Clean up crews clean up the laneways once every 1 to 2 weeks.

3. Storeowners should be reminded that garbage placed in laneways should be placed in bins, not in boxes or plastic bags. Neighbourhoods close to these laneways are plagued by rodents who are attracted to improperly packed garbage placed there by storeowners.

We ask that particular attention should be given to the following locations:

The laneway behind Pizza, Pizza at Oakwood and Eglinton, in particular the section between Oakwood and Clovelly.

The section of laneway between Rostrevor and Camberwell behind the business district on Eglinton.

Please report back to me as soon as possible with respect to this request from the community.
