New Bocce Courts at Fairbank Centre for Seniors
Ward 28, York-Eglinton
Councillor Mihevc
(October 28, 1999)
In the summer of this year, work was completed on new, indoor bocce courts at
York-Fairbank Centre for Seniors. The contractor was contacted shortly after the
courts were finished with a list of complaints re problems with the courts. The
contractor has not fixed any of the problems and is not returning calls from the centre.
The members of the centre have submitted a petition to my office asking that the
following issues be addressed as soon as possible:
1. All wood should be treated (due to humidity, etc.)
2. The echo in the bocce courtyard is extremely loud and should be rectified.
3. A control box for heating should be installed due to drastic fluctuations in
temperature.
4. The fence on both sides of the lanes should be extended by a minimum of 5 ft.
I would ask that staff work directly with the contractor and report back with action
taken.
