BY-LAW No.

To amend further Metropolitan By-law No. 148-70 respecting

the regulation of traffic on certain former Metropolitan Toronto highways

during periods of emergency occasioned by the fall of snow.

The Council of the City of Toronto HEREBY ENACTS as follows:

1.By-law No. 148-70, as amended, being a by-law "To regulate traffic on certain highways during periods of emergency occasioned by the fall of snow" is hereby further amended by inserting a new subsection 2.1 following Section 2, as follows:

"2.1Despite Section 2 of this By-law, the Mayor may declare that an emergency condition exists on any highway set out in Schedule "A" to this By-law when such a significant amount of snow has fallen that the clearing of snow from the highway is impeded by traffic and parking on the highway.";

2.The said By-law is hereby further amended by inserting a new subsection 3.1 following Section 3, as follows:

"3.1The declaration of the emergency condition as provided for in Section 3 can be extended by the Mayor for any further period of time required for clearing snow from the highway.";

3.The said By-law is hereby further amended by deleting the phrase "Chairman of the Metropolitan Council" where it appears in Sections 2, 3 and 4 thereof, and substituting therefor the word "Mayor".
