Quotations for Ten Truck Tractors

The Corporate Services Committee reports having:

(1)approved the following joint report (March 9, 1999) from the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer and the Commissioner of Corporate Services, in accordance with By-law No. 57-1998, as amended; and

(2)directed that a copy of the aforementioned report be forwarded to Council for information:

Purpose:

The purpose of this report is to advise the results of the Request for Quotation for the supply and delivery of ten Truck Tractors used to transport refuse trailers from transfer stations to landfill sites, in accordance with specifications, as required by the Department of Corporate Services, Fleet Management Services Division, and to request authority to issue a purchase order to the recommended bidder.

Source of Funds:

Funds in the amount of $1,441,801.00 including all taxes and charges have been provided for in the Consolidated Vehicle and Equipment Replacement Reserve.

Recommendation:

It is recommended that the quotation submitted by Freightliner Mid-Ontario Ltd. be accepted for the supply and delivery of ten Truck Tractors used to transport refuse trailers from transfer stations to landfill sites, in accordance with specifications, as required by the Department of Corporate Services, Fleet Management Services Division, at a total price of $1,441,801.00 including all taxes and charges, being the lowest quotation received.

Council Reference/Background/History:

Thirty-eight(38) firms were invited to submit bids; four(4) bids were received as summarized below for the supply and delivery of ten Truck Tractors used to transport refuse trailers from transfer stations to landfill sites, in accordance with specifications, as required by the Department of Corporate Services, Fleet Management Services Division.

Comments and/or Discussion and/or Justification:

The following is a Summary of Prices for Quotation No. 6126-98-01322 for the supply and delivery of ten Truck Tractors.

The Corporate Services Department, Fleet Management Services Division has reviewed these quotations with the Works and Emergency Services Department, Solid Waste Management Services Division, who concurs with the recommendation made.

The Manager, Fair Wage and Labour Trades Office, has reported favourably on the firm recommended.

Conclusion:

This report requests authority to issue a Purchase Order for the supply and delivery of ten Truck Tractors used to transport refuse trailers from transfer stations to landfill site, in accordance with specifications, as required by the Corporate Services Department, Fleet Management Services Division, to the lowest bidder, Freightliner Mid-Ontario Ltd.
