Parking Prohibitions - Hillcrest Avenue - North York Centre
The North York Community Council recommends the adoption of the following report (May 19, 1999) from the
Director, Transportation Services, District 3:
Purpose:
To amend the parking restrictions on both sides of Hillcrest Avenue, from Yonge Street to Doris Avenue, to accommodate
the installation of metered parking spaces.
Source of funds:
All costs associated with the installation of the parking restrictions are included within the 1999 operating budget.
Recommendations:
(1)that Schedule VIII of By-Law No. 31001, of the former City of North York, be amended as follows:
(a)rescind the existing parking prohibition on the north side of Hillcrest Avenue, from the easterly limit of Yonge Street
to the westerly limit of Doris Avenue; and
(b)prohibit parking at anytime on the south side of Hillcrest Avenue, from the easterly limit of Yonge Street to the
westerly limit of Doris Avenue; and
(2)that the Toronto City Solicitor be directed to prepare the appropriate Bills for the installation of fourteen (14) metered
parking spaces on the north side and removal of two (2) metered parking spaces on the south side of Hillcrest Avenue,
between Yonge Street and Doris Avenue.
Background:
Currently, there are two parking meters located on the south side of Hillcrest Avenue, immediately east of Yonge Street.
On the remaining portion of Hillcrest Avenue, parking is prohibited at anytime between Yonge Street and Doris Avenue.
Discussion:
The Transportation Services Division of the Works and Emergency Services Department has been requested by the
Toronto Parking Authority to amend the parking restrictions on both sides of Hillcrest Avenue, between Yonge Street and
Doris Avenue, to accommodate the new installation of fourteen (14) parking metered spaces on the north side of the
roadway.
Staff of the Transportation Services Division have no objections to this request, as two way traffic can be maintained with
the removal of the two metered parking spaces on the south side of the roadway.
Conclusions:
With the removal of the two metered parking spaces on the south side of Hillcrest Avenue and the installation of the
parking restrictions, there will be no adverse impact impacts on traffic flow with the installation of the 14 proposed
metered parking spaces on the north side of the roadway.
